POSITIVELY PORTO
07 February 2027 - 4 Nights
Flying from Dublin

Built at the mouth of the Douro River, Porto built much of its reputation and its fantastic wealth on wine, notably port wine. English wine merchants led the way and even today, many of the well known brands have English names, such as Taylor.
One of the oldest cities in Europe, Porto enjoys an enviable position, cut from the deep Douro Valley, not far from the coast. Its city centre has been justly proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Since being discovered by tourism, it is a city packed to capacity in the summer months…but it’s at its best in the off-season, when the crowds have gone and when visiting cafes, restaurants, churches, museums and all sorts of other sites is a delight.
We have a host of excursions planned for you, along with a few optional trips or tours. Let us show you the beautiful region of northern Portugal during our four-day trip.

Excursion to Braga (Included in the fare)
The city of Braga traces its history to Roman times, and was indeed, capital of the Roman Province of Galicia. It's a lively university city with a plethora of culture, churches, museums, eateries and bars.
Just over one hour from Porto by train, the city centre is reached on foot from the station in around 15 minutes on foot. We will, however, take the No.2 bus straight from the station to Bom Jesus (featured above) to view the spectacular staircase leading to the church and the amazing vista of the city from its elevated position. Feel free to climb the 573 granite staircase, or stay on the bus and ride to the summit.
We'll return to the city by bus, where we'll have time to explore and enjoy. Visit the cathedral or a museum, taste a "frigideria" meat pie, enjoy a local wine. We'l return to Porto later.
