Venice Value
Let’s face it, Venice is not inexpensive! In fact, it is one of the most expensive destinations in Europe, but we have it cracked! Our tour includes so many things that you would have to add to a hotel bill, such as lunch and dinner, walking tours, drinks, teas and coffees, tips and a number of excursions. We believe you would be hard-pushed to stay in a hotel on the island and have all these extra, for less money that this fare. Check it out for yourself on Google!
The best view in Venice…..
Dining aboard the lovely MS Michelangelo, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the restaurant with the best view in Europe….certainly in Venice. For most of the holiday, we will be moored at the Riva dei Sette Martiri, right on the Venice Lagoon. From the restaurant window, you will see all the boats snaking their passage across the lagoon, just feet from your window. Enjoy views of many of the beautiful buildings and churches as you dine on some of the very best French cuisine, served as standard fare on board.
The ship will be tied up alongside the wharf but, during the cruise, it is customary to switch sides, so that everyone has a view at some stage, be it early in the cruise, or at the end of it.
Venice & Surroundings
Our tour will include visits to the brightly coloured island of Burano, famous for its lace-making A quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Venice.
We will pass the gondola workshop and hear how every boat is different, then on to see mask makers at work in their studios. There is a guided tour of one of Venice’s most famous sites, the Doge’s Palace.
We sail to Chioggia, the main fishing port of Venice, where you can enjoy a hot-chocolate, so thick your spoon might even stand up in it. Explore the fish markets and enjoy a stroll around the port, before returning to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, join the excursion to visit Padua, one of the most exciting cities in Italy. Here Casanova, Galileo and Fallopia left their mark. Visit St. Antony’s cathedral, part of the Vatican City, even though it is hundreds of miles from Rome. Have a coffee at the Caffe Pedrocchi or stroll through the Piazza dell’ Erbe. You could even visit the Scrovegni Chapel, famous for its original Giottos.
The highlight, of course, is Venice itself. Enjoy a guided walking tours of the city with Alan Couser. We will see many of the major sights and some you may not have heard of, stopping from time-to-time for an ice cream, a snack or a coffee.
MS Michelangelo
Our home for four nights is the MS Michelangelo, a 4* river cruise-ship, belonging to the French company, Croisieurope. We have been using this ship as our base for many years and have always received excellent critiques for the ships comfort, style, friendly crew and staff and, above all, the superb French cuisine. Breakfast is a continental buffet affair, with plenty of choice of cereals, breads and cake, fresh fruit, eggs, ham & cheese and, of course, tea and coffee. Lunch and dinner are fixed menus, prepared to the highest standard by your experienced chefs. There are always alternatives available if the choice of menu does not suit you. Of course, during your stay, you should not go thirsty as almost all drinks are included throughout the trip, other than top-end wines and some spirits.
Beware, though….the cabins and bathrooms are small. There is, however, plenty of deck and lounge space and you’ll barely have time to be in your cabin.

IMPORTANT NOTES - PLEASE READ
1. There are a range of excursions offered during this cruise, as detailed in the itinerary.
2. Croisieurope offer a fixed three course menu for lunch and dinner, with a choice of main course options. The food is of the highest quality but sometimes a particular course may not appeal to you. The menu is on display from early morning and you may ask your waiter if he/she can arrange something else for you. You must do this at breakfast time, or an alternative may not be available.
3. Unlimited drinks, alcoholic and otherwise, are available throughout your cruise. The offer includes beers, spirits, soft drinks, teas & coffees, bottled water and a selection of fine house wines but excludes those from the wine list.
4. Gratuities are included aboard the ship but, if you feel you have received exceptional service, please feel free to put something into the unmarked envelope, which will be left in your cabin towards the end of the cruise. Gratuities for tour guides, etc. are not included and a small contribution would be appreciated.
5. “Accessibility” Whilst the “MS Michelangelo” offers one fully-accessible cabin for those who require wheelchair access, our experience shows that this cruise is not ideal for those with limited mobility. Venice is simply not designed for wheelchairs or those with reduced mobility. There are a number of ramps to cross severl canals but it's not ideal and it is hard work for anyone puching wheelchairs or assisting those less mobile. We would endeavour to ensure you get the maximum from a cruise but cannot guarantee you will be able to enjoy every aspect of Venice. You must also have a carer with you, who is able to manage every aspect of operating and pushing the wheelchair, your luggage, etc. Neither our representatives nor the crew of the ship can be called upon to assist, as we are not insured for it.
